Faculty and Staff –

Hopefully this note finds you closing down a successful school year and making plans for an eventful summer.  Unfortunately, for many of us, the concerns and uncertainty of a budget coming out of Albany any time soon has been frustrating and stressful.  Our Teacher Center Policy Board continues to play the waiting game as we all wait to see if a state budget or RTTT funding or federal funding will save any of the 132 centers across the state.

Despite difficult times, the district has been willing towork with the Teacher Center until official notice from the state is realized.  There are a few classes we’d like to continue to offer through our TC that we are proud to sponsor.  Additionally, we have begun to build relationships with other local teacher centers to share costs and resources.

Finding ways to grow professionally with limited funds has certainly been a challenge. Therefore, the Teacher Center Policy Board has made a decision to support courses that have a minimum of 10 participants.  I believe this is a fair plan of action to help make fiscally responsible decisions.

As you consider participating in any summer programs, I hope you keep our situation in mind. Allowing a course to run with only a few participants is not very cost effective and will only hinder our opportunities of running quality programs for a larger number of people in the future.  If you do realize that you may not be able to attend a class you register for, please be responsible enough to cancel your registration three (3) days before the beginning of the class.

Please click on the Professional Development link to find summer opportunities sponsored by your teacher center.  If you are interested in taking a class, please register online using Ascriptica.

Thank you for your support,

Paul Szymendera
Teacher Center Director

sign-up for one of the 2-hour classes!!

Hopefully, you will find this new form easier to use when you need something cut out  As always, send a completed form to the Teacher Center and we will send you back your cut-out order.  If you would prefer to have items cut on special paper, just send it over with  your form. We do have a limited supply of various colors, but if you have a special request or a “grade-level” project,  we would appreciate you sending paper.

I hope that by now you have seen the updated posters Carol made to show off our new cut-outs!
