Flip Camera [5 + 2]

Through the use of video technology, teachers can capture students as they speak out and express their ideas. When a teacher has more then one camera in a classroom setting, multiple mini-debates can take place at a given time. A teacher is then able to score the conversations later, share them with
the students and offer feedback.
The FLIP camera is the easiest way to capture, load and share video clips. The FLIP camera comes with it’s own easy to use software or, you can load your clips onto the web or in an iMovie or PowerPoint project.
This class will show you how to: 1. Use the Flip Camera 2. Use the Flip Camera Software to make quick movies 3. Import clips to iDVD, PowerPoint, iMovie or your webpage 4. Design a Video Assessment for your class

Student Web Pages [5 + 2]

There are plenty of free tools available on the internet to help students and teachers alike. This class will focus on building web pages with your students in the classroom. The webpages can be used for both summative and formative assessments.
Teacher will learn how to use webpage-building resources that can upload video, audio, pics, blogs, files and more! We will discuss the use/purpose in the classroom and have a chance to share with other teachers in the program.

Activities, Graphic Organizers and Documents [5 + 2]

Do you want to create professional looking activities, graphic organizers and documents? Do you want to be efficient while developing them? In this module, we will utilize the newest version of MS Word. A focus will be placed on formatting a document file to best suit your needs as ateacher. Along the way,
you will learn a bunch of tricks to make the process easier. As a teacher, you should be spending time thinking of the activity, not wasting time figuring out how to make it.

21st Century Memory Strategies [15] Vivian Demers-Jagoda

Given the fact that much as 70% of what we learn and teach may be forgotten in 24 hours, there can be no learning without memory. Explore how memoires are RECORDED, identify RETRIEVAL strategies, and practice REHEARSAL strategies including body location, snapshot and mental movie. Ask the question, "How will you remember this?" of our students and have an answer to MODEL for them. There will be a half-hour working lunch. |
Cooperative Learning - Has Learning Occurred? [6] Vivian Demers-Jagoda

We will discuss and model the difference between true cooperative learning and not just group work. The basics of true cooperative learning will be reinforced for the non-whole group portion of your lesson. Dovetailing the work of the Johnsons and Spencer Kagan, small cooperative structures will be discussed and demonstrated that can be integrated into most class periods.
